If the pandemic offered anything positive in its wake, I think it has allowed us all to realize that we can grow and shift, and that we don't need to necessarily remain tied to old rules. When I made the decision to pursue an art career, I also realized I have the power to decide what that career looks like. For me, that's having two sides to my practice: painting and writing.
And that's why you're here, staring at a POETRY heading. Art and poetry are historically entwined, and for me they're two sides to my understanding of the image. One allows me to take my thoughts and feelings and render those ideas in paint and the other challenges me to bring an image to life through words.
As I work to embrace and balance both elements of my creative practice, I hope you'll enjoy seeing the two side-by-side.
